About Pete Chen

Pete Chen, known in his home country of Taiwan as Chen Yen Han and playing online under the moniker "TurboPete", began as a cash games specialist before moving on to the tournament scene. While this Taiwanese pro can usually be spotted in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments, he also plays some Pot-Limit Omaha and mixed games such as HORSE and the 8-Game Mix.

In 2014, Pete won the coveted PokerStars Asia Player of the Year (POY) Award. Even though he has shown consistent results since then, it wasn't until WPT Beijing in April 2017 that he had his first major win: taking home $299,485 in the $3,500 NLH Main Event. To date, Pete's biggest cash was at the 2017 WSOP $5,000 No Limit Hold'em in Vegas, where he walked away with $382,122.

For Pete, playing tournaments is not just about the money. His aim is to be the very best, and that is why he consistently puts in the hours to better his craft. Pete clocks in an average of 2,000 - 3,000 hours per year to study and play poker. In fact, he will be the first to admit that he might even play a little too much.

"Every year I find that I demand more and more from myself. It's when I challenge and push myself out of my comfort zone that I can become a better poker player," said Pete.

“Online is a good place to practice. My sessions usually last between 8 to 14 hours, depending on whether I run deep in tournaments or not. Playing online can be difficult due to the time difference, so I really like that Natural8 hosts events that are friendly for players in the Asia timezone.”

This disciplined approach to the game sees Pete play as many tournaments as humanly possible, and he has the impressive resume to show for it. Throughout the years, he has collected more than 30 trophies including the elusive WPT Champion's Cup.

From a student who was confused about his future before discovering poker, Pete has grown to be a force to reckon with. He currently has a total of $2,999,119 in live cashes to his name, and ranks 3rd on the Taiwan all-time money list.

Even in his "free" time, Pete lives and breathes poker. His most recent endeavour is a YouTube channel where he introduces poker and basic strategy to those not yet familiar with the game.

Natural8 is excited to welcome Pete on board as one of our Team Hot ambassadors and we look forward to his continuing success!
