APT Online 2023 Recap: Events #3 & #4

Running 5th - 26th November and boasting $15 million in series prize pool guarantees, the Asian Poker Tour Online (APTO) 2023 has seen a second weekend of thrilling poker action play out across the virtual felt. Two more of the scheduled 14 Trophy Events are in the books and two newly minted champions have been crowned.

Events #3 & #4 are now done and dusted – more on those below – but these are merely appetizers for the APT Online feast on the menu over the coming weeks, with two-thirds of the exciting series left to play out. 

Upcoming highlights in the next recap include action from the $300 Event #5: Sunday Super Stack, and the $88 Event #6: APT Mini Main Event, running 12th November, at 7 p.m. (HKT) and 9 p.m. (HKT) respectively, with other exciting tournaments scheduled to play out over the next week including:

  • Event #7: King of the Jungle Bounty 6-Max – $250,000 guarantee, $525 buy-in, running 13th - 16th Nov.

  • Event #10: Mystery Bounty Hunter - $100K Top Bounty – $1 million guarantee, $210 buy-in, running 13th - 19th Nov.

The focus now turns to the $800 Event #14 APT Main Event $2M GTD which has also arrived, with the first of the scheduled Day 1s playing out on 11th November. 

This saw 92 entries in action, with 11 players locking up a place on Day 2. It was China’s “Shanghaichen” who topped the chip counts, concluding play with a stack of 1.26 million in chips, valued at 126 big blinds when the action resumes on Sunday, 26th Nov at 9 p.m. (HKT). 

Other notables to fight through included defending APTO Main Event champion “Sioul17”, who amassed 330,630 in chips (33 big blinds), and online tournament specialist “Chris Moorman” who made it through with 115,792 in chips (11 big blinds).

APT Main Event Day 1s are running from 11th - 26th November, with $8 Step Satellites, and $80 Mega Satellites daily. In addition to claiming the lion’s share of the enticing $2 million Main Event prize pool guarantee, the eventual winner will walk away with an exclusive bespoke APT Online Lion Trophy – don’t miss out on the action!

Event #3: APT Double Stack

Event #3 - APT Double Stack [Day 2]

Running 6th - 9th November and boasting a juicy $350,000 prize pool guarantee, the $400 Event #3: APT Double Stack drew 1,132 entries in total over four starting flights, generating a $425,632 prize pool. A total of 141 players survived the initial action and made it through to the Final Day, all guaranteed a payout of at least $842.19.

It was China’s “yyds999” who claimed the title, trophy, and a $66,398.11 top prize after defeating “Potpuno_Lud” heads-up, with the Montenegro-based player earning themselves a $49,802.43 payday for their runner-up finish. Thailand’s “LuffyJd” rounded out the winner’s podium, taking bronze and payout of $37,359.21 for third place, with the final table paying out as follows:

Other notables to cash but come up short of a place in the final nine included Event #2 Superstar Challenge finalists “Nikita Kuznetsov” (19th for $ $2,471.73), and “Vlad Darie” (65th for $1,254.46), APT Online March 2023 Event #4 champion “Bellator Deus” (94th for $960.94), and China’s “Xiaohua Fu” (116th for $842.19).

Event #4: Thailand National Cup

Playing out on Saturday, 11th November, it was the ฿5,000,000/~$137* Event #4: Thailand National Cup that proved to be the biggest draw of the weekend, with 1,238 entries. This made it the second largest of the Trophy Events to play out so far. 

This easily surpassed the ฿5,000,000/$137,600* guarantee with a total of ฿5,694,800 ($156,700*) in the prize purse and the top 197 players paid, with a min-cash coming in at ฿8,974.89 ($250.52*). 

It was Malta’s “Dr0kos” who took the accolades, claiming the APTO trophy and a ฿775,345.71 ($21,643.32*) top prize after besting “Beegor” heads-up, with the Hong Kong-based player collecting ฿581,426.81 ($16,230.18*) for their runner-up finish. Hong Kong’s “GDS77” rounded out the top three, taking ฿436,008.48 ($12,170.92*) for third place. “Chris Moorman” came up short of a final table appearance, cashing for ฿24,490.99 for 30th place, with the final table paying out as follows:
