Hua Wei Lin Wins Women's Event

After three cashes and two final tables at this year’s APT Incheon, Natural8 Team Hot’s Hua Wei “Weiwei” Lin finally claimed her third APT title by taking down the APT Incheon #47 Women’s Event. Weiwei topped a field of 56 competitors to claim the top prize of KRW 5,875,200 and will be hoping to use that momentum to make a deep run in the Main Event, having bagged a decent stack on Day 1b.

Final Tablists

Once the final table of eight was reached, it was clear that Weiwei was the most experienced player at the table. A couple of the final tablists were recording their first-ever cash; Thanpapha Wattanachaimongkol from Thailand and Yong Yuan Yang from Taiwan both made their first cash in this event, finishing 8th for KRW 780,000 and 4th for KRW 2,070,000 respectively.

Both Noriko Suzuki and Ayaka Muraishi have solid poker resumes, with Muraishi winning the Queens Cup here in Incheon back in May. Unfortunately for them, neither of them lasted long once we reached the final table, with Suzuki and Muraishi being eliminated in 6th and 7th.

The only player who looked like they would stand in Weiwei’s way was China’s Shaotong Chang. Chang had over $250,000 in live tournament earnings and had finished runner-up in a WSOPC online circuit ring event back in 2022. However, Chang could only manage a 5th place finish for KRW 1,600,000, and while she doesn’t yet have an APT title to her name, we’re sure that she’ll get one soon enough.

Chang’s elimination paved the way for Weiwei to use her experience to dominate the table. While the competition was tough, she was eventually able to overcome her opponents, as Tamao Kobayashi from Japan was knocked out in 3rd place for KRW 2,740,000. Weiwei then went on to defeat Karen Talamayan from the Philippines in the heads-up match to claim her third APT title, taking home the gold trophy and an extra KRW 5,875,200.

We at Natural8 would like to congratulate Wei Wei on her win, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll achieve next!
